Mobile water needs of Jan de Nul Group

The Jan De Nul group of companies is one of the world’s top dredging and maritime engineering corporations. The company is known worldwide for it’s achievements in the creation of the famous Palm islands off the coast of Dubai. Besides similar mega projects, Jan De Nul is engaged in many other projects around the globe. Dredging, land winning, maritime engineering, pipelining and heavy hoisting are all activities the Jan De Nul Group is familiar with.

For offshore and other remote projects it is essential that there is a sufficient- and above all- reliable supply of drinking water. That is why Jan De Nul has asked Hatenboer-Water to build two water purification and distribution systems. The most important aspect of these systems had to be their flexibility, enabling the fullest use of the systems against the investment being made. 

In Venice, a containment unit was built for storage and distribution of hot and cool water. The unit is made up of two storage tanks, a hydrofor pump unit, calorifier and a Demitec-UV® disinfection system.

For another project for Jan De Nul in Saudi-Arabia, Hatenboer-Water developed a water production and distribution unit for the production of 20 to 30 cubic metres of drinking water per day, with the intake of water coming directly from the sea. This system is made up of a heavy duty preliminary filter and two reverse osmosis systems with a neutralization function to make the seawater fit for human consumption. Finally, the distribution unit, with a Hadex® disinfection dosing system and Demitec® UV (ultraviolet) system ensures that the drinking water is preserved for immediate consumption.

Both systems are produced and utilized in standard 20 ft container housings. Thanks to the design and production by Hatenboer-Water, operation and maintenance of these water units is simple and dependable. The containers are equipped with special isolating inner lining and air-conditioning to ensure functioning, even under extreme circumstances.
