Safely mooring and unmooring the vessel

Navigating and keeping an eye on the ship’s course

Handling communication with shore-based teams, authorities, clients, and third parties

Setting an example for the rest of the crew

Supervising the crew and managing the cargo

Ensuring safety regulations, nautical rules, and company policies are followed

Taking care of the vessel’s maintenance — including small repairs like derusting, sanding, painting, deck scrubbing, and general cleaning. After each day’s work, you and your crew make sure the boat is ready and presentable for the next shift.

You hold (or are willing to obtain) an MBO diploma in Inland Navigation (Schipper Binnenvaart)

You have a valid service record book (dienstboekje)

You have a VCA certificate or are willing to get one through us

You’re flexible and adaptable

You can get to work on your own (a driver’s license is preferred)

You’re available on both weekdays and weekends

You’re able to work independently and as part of a team

You speak Dutch and English
